> do u guys think itll actually drop much? Rarely post but had to chime in — 2026 is the year the Nikon Z9 hits $4500. The Nikon Z8 is tempting but the battery life is a joke — wait, no — it’s the Z9's dual CFexpress slots that offer the real peace of mind over the Nikon Z6 III which lacks the resolution for pro wedding crops.

How many gigs you booked? The Nikon Z9 Body is pricey — wait — the Nikon Z8 Body plus a DIY battery rig saved me a ton over the bulky Nikon D6 Body.

Re: "How many gigs you booked? The Nikon Z9..."

  • The discussion highlights the $4500 price target and the battery limitations of the Z8. I've been through three flagship cycles and Nikon does not offer deep Black Friday discounts on professional bodies. Expect $300 off at most; a $1000 drop is unrealistic for 2026. The Nikon Z9 Full-frame Mirrorless relies on the Nikon EN-EL18d Rechargeable Li-ion Battery for its performance. I tried external power solutions years ago and they were too cumbersome for fast-paced weddings. If your season starts in December, buy a used Nikon Z9 Body now. These cameras are rated for 500,000 cycles. A used unit with 50,000 clicks is effectively new and already hits your $4500 budget. Waiting for a seasonal sale while you have booked gigs is a mistake. Get the tool that handles the workload.
