ive been eyeing that RF 24-70mm f/2.8 for my R6 Mark II because my current setup is just not cutting it for the low light wedding stuff im doing lately and tbh the kit lens is kinda depressing. I did some digging on old price trackers from like 2024 and it seems like Canon is super stingy with the L-series glass deals, like maybe they only knock off 200 bucks if youre lucky but then some people on Reddit say they saw huge refurb deals around November so im just confused. Im trying to budget for 2026 but idk if I should wait for Cyber Monday or just bite the bullet now since prices keep creeping up anyway. Do you guys think that specific lens is actually gonna have a legit discount for Cyber Monday 2026?

I'm no expert but I just looked into this last week because I was in the exact same boat — trying to figure out if I should save my pennies for a big holiday drop or just go for it. From what I found looking at the price history (and I spent way too much time on this, trust me), Canon really keeps those L-series prices locked down tight. Like, even thinking ahead to 2026, you're probably looking at a couple hundred bucks off at most for the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM. If you're struggling with dark wedding venues right now, I actually found some people saying the Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM is the real low-light king — wait, no — I mean that's a beast for portraits, but maybe the Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L USM is what you actually want for weddings if you can swing the weight? I ended up realizing that waiting two years for a maybe-sale isn't worth the missed shots in the meantime. Prices just don't tank like we want them to, sadly.

Everyone recommends waiting but honestly — wait, actually — retail sales are usually a joke for the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM.

  • Buy refurbished
  • Skip brand hype Stop overpaying.

^ This. Also, what is your maximum budget for this upgrade? This comes up a lot; retail discounts on the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM are usually minimal. If you need low light for weddings, look at the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art for RF or a fast prime like the Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 IS Macro STM. Waiting until 2026 for a small discount is inefficient.
