Ive been shooting weddings with my OG R5 for like forever now but the shutter is starting to sound super crunchy and honestly Im kinda freaking out because I have this massive gig in Portland in mid-December. I was really hoping the R5 Mark II would see some decent price cuts today since its Cyber Monday but everywhere I look its still basically MSRP or they just bundle it with some crappy SD cards and a bag I dont need. My budget is strictly capped at $3400 for the body alone so has anyone seen any actual discounts or even some loyalty rebates that might be live for 2026? I really need to pull the trigger tonight...

  • Stumbled upon this and honestly I spent weeks hunting for a deal before my last wedding and went the open-box route to save cash.
  • Retailers often list open-box Canon EOS R5 Mark II Body units near that $3400 mark during holiday returns.
  • I saved about $900 doing that last season and it worked PERFECTLY... ngl skip the bundles and just hunt those returns.

I’ve been tracking the Canon EOS R5 Mark II Body all day and, honestly, hitting that $3400 mark for a brand-new unit is going to be tough — wait, no — I mean, nearly impossible unless you find a specific loyalty coupon. I remember back when I rushed into a "deal" for my old kit and ended up with a grey market body that had zero US warranty (believe me, that’s a headache you don’t want right before a massive Portland wedding). Just make sure you double-check the seller’s credentials if the price looks suspiciously low. My quick tip is to check the official Canon Refurbished site or call their loyalty department directly; sometimes they’ll give you a decent discount if you trade in that "crunchy" old body. If you do buy used today, I’d recommend getting it professionally inspected before your big gig just to be safe.

just catching up on this thread... im no expert but i just looked into this last week because i was in a total panic about my own gear failing. building on the earlier suggestion, i spent a ton of time researching those big rental houses that sell off their kits. i was super worried about reliability since weddings are so high stakes and i cant afford a failure. what i found was that some of those places actually give you a better breakdown of the gear history than a random open-box deal from a big box store. tbh it made me feel way better about potentially going used. quick question though... are you 100% set on the mark ii for the specific video specs or is it just the AF you need for portland? i found some crazy deals on the older model that would leave you plenty of room in that $3400 budget for a backup body too which might be SAFER for a big december gig.
