Honestly fed up with my original R5—the overheating during summer shoots here in Oregon is just killing me lately and I'm ready to move on. I’ve been digging through Canon Rumors and some Japanese tech blogs trying to see if there's any concrete word on the R5 Mark III specifically for the 2026 holiday window, but everything I find is just 'expected soon' fluff which doesn't help my planning. I really need to know if I should save my $4k budget for a potential Cyber Monday bundle or if those leaks usually don't hit until the week of. My R5's card slot is also acting up (so annoying) so I'm on a bit of a timeline before the wedding season starts—do any of you have leads on actual leaked SKU lists for 2026 yet?

I'm no expert but I just looked into this last week. There are no leaked 2026 SKUs yet as it's too early for holiday retail lists.

  • Canon EOS R5 Mark II: Better cooling than the original R5 and fits your $4k budget now.
  • Canon EOS R5 Mark III: Expected late 2026 launch; likely won't see deep Cyber Monday discounts so soon. The Mark II solves your overheating and card slot issues immediately.

Look, those 2026 leaks are just noise—they aren't real—and listen, waiting is a mistake if your engine is already smoking. If you're cooking sensors, you need a body with an actual fan—wait, no, I mean the Canon EOS R5 C Mirrorless Cinema Camera. It’s basically an R5 with a radiator (the fan makes it bulky) and it won't seize up mid-wedding. Just buy the right tool for the job.

^ This. Also, if the heat is the real killer — and man, those Oregon summers are getting brutal — you should just grab a Canon EOS R3 instead because it handles thermal loads way better than any R5 ever could. It’s a bit heavier — wait, it’s definitely heavier — but it’s bulletproof for weddings and fits that $4k budget easily by 2026.
