ive been looking at getting the canon r5 for ages now since my old dslr is basically dying and i need it for a winter wedding in london this december tbh. i saw some stuff on canonwatch saying there might be a massive price drop for cyber monday 2026 because of the newer models out but then i went on reddit and people are saying they might just stop selling the original r5 altogether and not even bother with sales? i dont know what to believe and my budgets kinda tight at £2500 so do you think stores are actually gonna have stock left for those big discounts or should i just buy it now?
> i dont know what to believe and my budgets kinda tight at £2500 so do you think stores are actually gonna have stock left for those big discounts or should i just buy it now? Look, waiting for Cyber Monday when you have a job in December is a gamble you will lose. I have spent 25 years in a shop. When a critical tool breaks, I do not wait for a holiday sale. I buy what I need to get the job done immediately. Listen, I bought my Canon EOS R5 Body for £2,800. At a £2,500 budget, you are chasing a ghost for brand new retail stock. Stores clear out old inventory months before the big sales. By late November, original R5 stock will be gone to make room for the newer models. I once waited for a sale on a diagnostic scanner. The sale never happened, the price went up due to low stock, and I lost a week of work. Do not do that. I eventually found a refurbished Canon EOS R5 Body for £2,150. That left me enough for a Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. You have a wedding in London this December. You need time to learn the mirrorless autofocus. It is not like your old DSLR. If you wait until the end of November, you will be shooting a professional event with gear you do not understand. Buy a used body with a low shutter count now.
Bookmarked, thanks!
