I am still using an iPhone 11. It is basically a brick at this point. The battery lasts maybe two hours on a good day. The screen has a huge crack across the bottom. I really want to wait for the iPhone 17 but I have no idea how Apple sales actually work. Sorry if this is a dumb question. I am just very confused. Do brand new iPhones even go on sale for Cyber Monday?
I am looking at the 2026 sales specifically. Some people tell me Apple never does discounts. Other people say there are huge deals. My budget is $800 max. I need a much better camera for my kid's soccer games. I also need a battery that doesn't die while I am at the store. I do not want a giant phone because my hands are small. Is it worth waiting for Cyber Monday 2026 for the 17? Or will the price stay exactly the same as the launch price? I am trying to plan ahead but I don't know where to start looking for real info.
Should I expect $100 off or is that crazy for a new model? I don't know if carriers are better to buy from than the Apple Store. My phone freezes constantly. It happens every time I try to take a photo. I just want to know if the 17 will be cheaper so soon after it launches. Usually they come out in September. That means Cyber Monday is only two months later. That seems too fast for a real sale. But I see ads for deals all the time. It is very overwhelming. Will there be actual price cuts or just those gift card things? I don't want to get my hopes up if the price stays at $1,000. What kind of deals should I realistically expect for a phone that new?

So funny you ask this — last summer I tracked price drops for the latest models to see if Cyber Monday mattered. Apple rarely discounts the Apple iPhone 17 128GB directly.
- Apple Store: $50 gift cards, not cash off.
- Best Buy/Amazon: $50 discount maximum.
- Carriers: Huge credits, but require expensive 36-month contracts. Expect to pay full price or use a trade-in to reach $800.

ngl i am literally no expert but i just looked into this last week for my own upgrade and it is SO confusing... honestly i spent hours on forums trying to figure out the math. before i get too deep into it though, are you planning to stay with your current carrier or are you open to switching to get a better price?? idk your situation but it matters for the deals. anyway i found that for an $800 budget the base Apple iPhone 17 128GB is gonna be super tight. here is what i saw in my research:
- costco sometimes does actual $100 off the sticker price for members which is way better than a gift card.
- walmart usually does huge gift card bundles ($200ish) if you activate on a plan there.
- if the 17 is too pricey, the Apple iPhone 16 128GB will be way under $800 by then and still has a sick camera. it is ROUGH trying to save money on these things lol...
