Are RTX 5080 prices dropping for Black Friday 2026?

so i’ve been building my own PCs since like 2014 and i usually have a pretty good handle on when to pull the trigger on upgrades but honestly this 50-series launch has me totally second guessing everything i know. i’m trying to get an RTX 5080 for this new 4K editing workstation im setting up here in Chicago—my budget is firm at $1100-1200 max—but every time i check Newegg or even Microcenter the prices are just staying glued to that $1300+ mark or even higher for the decent AIB models. i was thinking since we’re heading into Black Friday 2026 that we’d finally see some real movement like we did with the 30-series back in the day but then i saw some rumors that supply is getting choked again for the "Super" refresh or whatever they’re calling it. my logic was that by now the "early adopter tax" would be gone but it feels like it’s just not happening and im getting kinda stressed because i need this build done by December for a client project. do we actually think the 5080 is gonna hit any real sales or am i just wasting my time waiting for a discount that isnt coming?

I've been watching those listings too—it's a real headache—but I’d just make sure you aren't compromising on the cooling just to stay under that $1200 mark. You don't want to risk a failure during a render—actually, wait, what power supply are you planning to use? I'd double-check your wattage before buying a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 just to be safe.

> my logic was that by now the "early adopter tax" would be gone I've been through three of these cycles. I tried that strategy three years ago and it was garbage. Which software are you running?
