So I've been obsessing over my 2026 workstation build and I'm totally torn between waiting for a 5090 or just settling for a 5080. My logic was that by Black Friday 2026, the 5090 should finally see some decent cuts—I've been checking historical data for the 4090 on CamelCamelCamel and it basically never dropped, which is depressing. I'm based in Germany and have a strict €2,200 limit for the GPU. If the 5090 is still sitting at launch prices two years later because of the AI craze, I might be screwed for my rendering deadlines in 2027. Do we think Black Friday 2026 will actually matter for flagship cards or is it just wishful thinking?

tbh im no expert but i just looked into this last week because i was literally having the same panic about my own build. i spent hours digging through pricing trends for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 24GB and honestly it looks bleak for us. flagship cards like the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 32GB just dont behave like normal tech anymore. with the whole AI boom and enterprise users snatching them up for local rendering its basically guaranteed theyll hold their value way longer than we want. if the launch price is over €2k in germany there is like zero chance it drops significantly by black friday 2026 especially since nvidia has no real competition at the top end. i checked some local german trackers and those high end cards usually just go out of stock rather than getting a real discount. heres a quick tip i found while researching: instead of banking on a black friday miracle you should lowkey stalk the B-Ware or open-box sections on sites like Mindfactory or Caseking. thats usually the ONLY way to get a flagship under msrp in the first couple years. also if you really need the vram for rendering you might be better off grabbing a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB and just getting to work instead of waiting. waiting two years for a tiny discount on a 5090 is gonna be a MAJOR letdown ngl... i think the dream of a cheap 5090 is probably dead on arrival...
