Looking for a Mini 4 Pro deal for my $600 budget—planning an Iceland trip—and I'm confused. I checked Amazon and DJI's site but the prices haven't moved yet. Is the 'Fly More' kit actually a deal? I'm a total beginner... oh, do I need a special SD card too?

honestly this comes up a lot every black friday and the short answer is you wont find a brand new DJI Mini 4 Pro for $600 unless its just the base kit. iceland is gonna EAT your batteries because the wind there is no joke and the drone has to work double time to stay stable... you definitely wanna find a way to swing the fly more kit for the charging hub alone because charging batteries inside the drone one by one takes forever. heres the reality of what you actually need for that trip:

  • skip the basic remote and try to find a bundle with the DJI RC 2 Remote Controller. having the built in screen means you dont have to mess with cables or your phone battery dying in the cold icelandic air which is a total lifesaver.
  • since the other guy mentioned sandisk you should look at the Samsung PRO Plus 256GB microSDXC. its super reliable for 4k 60fps and usually goes on sale for dirt cheap during the holidays. dont get the slow cards or your footage will stutter and be RUINED.
  • you NEED nd filters for those icelandic waterfalls if you want that smooth cinematic water look instead of it looking like choppy static. look for the K&F Concept ND Filter Kit for Mini 4 Pro.
  • dont even THINK about flying in iceland without DJI Care Refresh 1-Year Plan. if you crash into a cliff or lose it in a canyon you want that replacement instead of being out your whole budget... lowkey check the dji official refurbished store on their site... they usually drop prices a week before the actual holiday and thats your best bet for hitting that price point.

A $600 budget is tight for a DJI Mini 4 Pro but doable if you shop refurbished. I saved $150 on my last unit by avoiding new retail prices. For an Iceland trip, the DJI Mini 4 Pro Fly More Combo is mandatory. Buying batteries separately costs about $95 each. The bundle saves you roughly $120 over buying individual parts, which brings your cost per flight down significantly over the life of the drone. Regarding your setup:

  • Get the SanDisk Extreme 128GB V30 microSD. Don't let them upsell you on $60 cards; this one handles 4K video for under $20 and has never failed me.
  • Buy a generic hard case like the Lykus Titan MA210. The dealer wanted $100 for a branded bag, but I got a waterproof case for $40 that actually protects the gimbal during travel.
  • Pick up extra propellers. A shop once tried to charge me $50 for a drone "tune-up," but I bought a pack of Master Airscrew Stealth Propellers for $15 and swapped them myself in ten minutes. Always calculate the cost per year. If this gear lasts three years, you are looking at $200 a year for pro-level footage. That is less than I spend on my kids' shoes. Stick to the refurbished market on Black Friday to hit that $600 mark.

I've been through three of these. For $600, find an open-box DJI Mini 4 Pro. Use a Kingston Canvas Go! Plus 128GB microSDXC. Cheap cards I tried years ago were garbage.
