so im literally vibrating with excitement because im finally going to japan in spring 2026 but i need a camera first. im totally torn between getting the pocket 3 right now or waiting for the pocket 4 to launch. i only have about $600 saved for this and i dont want to waste it on old tech if the new one is gonna be way better for night shots in shibuya. ive been scouring the web but has anyone seen any leaked deals or release dates for the osmo pocket 4 yet? it would suck to buy the 3 and then see the 4 drop a week later ya know...

Building on the earlier suggestion, there aren't any leaks — DJI stays silent until about a week before launch — so you're basically chasing ghosts right now. For Shibuya, stick to these:
- DJI Osmo Pocket 3 ($519)
- DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo (used or on sale) The current sensor is a low-light beast — wait, no — it's actually perfect, so just grab it.

TL;DR: No leaks exist yet. DJI cycles are 2-3 years. Expect the next one late 2025 or early 2026. This topic comes up a lot. Search the forum for "release cycles" and you will see the pattern. The DJI Osmo Pocket 2 came out in 2020 and the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 in 2023. There is no data on a DJI Osmo Pocket 4 yet. Your $600 budget is tight for new releases. The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo already exceeds that at $669. The base model is $519. If a new model drops in 2026, it will likely launch at the same or higher price point. To maximize your budget:
- Buy the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 from the DJI Refurbished store. It frequently lists for under $450.
- Use the savings for accessories like a fast SD card or a power bank.
- The current 1-inch sensor is excellent for low light. It handles Shibuya's neon and dark alleys better than any previous handheld gimbal. Waiting is a gamble. If you buy in late 2025, you might catch a clearance sale on the 3. If you wait for the 4, you might spend your entire budget on just the camera with no accessories left for your trip.

I've been through three of these now—owned the first two and they were honestly kind of garbage in the dark—but chasing leaks for 2026 is just... well, it's way too early. DJI stays silent until basically the week of launch. Just grab the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 now because that 1-inch sensor is the real deal for neon Japan nights—you don't want to be camera-less while waiting on a DJI Osmo Pocket 4 ghost.
